Meet Julie our Owner and Franchisor

My name is Julie, and I am the franchisor of TechyTots. I started on my TechyTots journey back in 2018 as a pilot franchisee. At that time, I was a single parent, striving to balance being there for my girls while working to support our family. Juggling responsibilities had been my reality for years, and I was supplementing my income through Universal Credit.

How it Started

The idea of starting my own business was both exciting and daunting. However, I wholeheartedly believed in the mission of TechyTots – introducing children to coding at a young age for a strong foundation. With that belief, I took a leap of faith. I borrowed the franchise investment fee from my parents and launched TechyTots Sutton and Cheam in August 2018.

It turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Soon after, I started my first after-school club, and from there, our presence grew rapidly. TechyTots Sutton and Cheam now employ four dedicated staff members, offering multiple breakfast and after-school clubs each week, as well as enriching school days and holiday classes.

Why I moved from Franchisee to Franchisor

In 2021 the founder of TechyTots decided she had taken the company as far as she could. I quickly made the decision that I wasn’t finished with TechyTots and believed in the positive impact TechyTots had on children’s learning and confidence. Despite the challenging times brought on by the lockdown, where classes were temporarily halted, I was committed to TechyTots and driving us forward.

What has happened since taking over

Since assuming the role of Franchisor, TechyTots has achieved notable recognition, earning the prestigious ‘Best Coding Class UK’ Award presented by Lix Life magazine, along with being nominated for multiple awards.

I have revitalised the brand, giving it a fresh look and feel, while also launching a new website. Moreover, I have joined various organisations to instil confidence in parents, schools, and potential franchisees, assuring them of TechyTots’ dedication to being the leading children’s coding activity. As an ethical franchisor, we are fully committed to supporting our franchise network.
